Directions

From Melbourne

  • Travel east from Melbourne on the Princes Hwy ( national route no 1) to Bairnsdale.
  • Travel through Bairnsdale, taking the Great Alpine Rd towards Bruthen, Omeo (and alternate route to Orbost ) at the major roundabout east of the centre of town.
  • Travel to Bruthen – approx 25 km.
  • Turn left onto the Great Alpine Rd in the town centre.
  • Continue up this road for approximately 500 metres.
  • The cottage is on the left immediately next to the primary school.

From Omeo (Great Alpine Road)

  • Travel on the Great Alpine Road from Omeo through the townships of Swfits Creek and Ensay towards Bruthen.
  • Bruthen Cottage is on the right hand side, xx m after you enter the 60 km speed zone. Look for Hoppner St on the right: the cottage is the 2nd house after Hoppner St.

From the east on the Princes Hwy

  • Travel west from Orbost (75 km from Bruthen) to the town of Nowa Nowa. Where the road forks, stay on the main road, veering to the right (don’t go straight ahead to Lakes Entrance). Travel 27 km to Bruthen.
  • After crossing the river on entering town turn right onto the Great Alpine Road, about 500 m after crossing the river. This is the first turn off to your right after the river.
  • Continue up this road for approximately 500 metres.
  • The cottage is on the left immediately next to the primary school.
